Born in or around Saint Paul, Minnesota, Daniel Kool currently covers utilities for the Portland Press Herald in Portland, Maine.
Before moving to Maine, he worked at the Boston Globe, covering immigration and resettlement, the October 2023 Lewiston, Maine shooting, transportation infrastructure and equity, and all sorts weekend color.
